As a part of Writing 37, we worked on weekly LearnSmart Achieve (LSA) assignments on connect Mc Graw Hill. The quizzes were one of my favorite parts of the writing class. The resources provided in the assignments provided me the theoretical knowledge and taught me new writing concepts. One such assignment was the one on Organizing Ideas and Writing Strong Paragraphs. I learnt the most from this assignment as it was the most challenging one of all the ones. It covered the topics of effective and ineffective topic sentences, qualities of a focused paragraph, transitional sentences, and the patterns of development of paragraphs.

LSA assignment report demonstrating the concepts I found most challenging
The data from the report on the assignment reflects how I thought I knew the concepts well but made many errors. The Time on Task report shows that it took me longer than intended to complete this quiz. The assignment concepts that were the most challenging to me were identifying paragraphs that use argument as a pattern of development, identifying the qualities of a focused paragraph and effective transitional sentences. The data demonstrates that I need to work more on these concepts and review the resources. I think that I have made progress in identifying the qualities of a focused paragraph and have applied the skills in writing my Genre Analysis Essay.

Data from the LSA assignment on Commas, Semicolons, Italics, and Quotation Marks
The data from the quizzes also helped me understand the grammar and punctuation areas I needed to work on such as identifying the correct usage of quotation marks and intentional sentence fragments. I have made progress in the concepts of italics and comma splices since the Grammar and Punctuation Diagnostic Quiz. In the future, I can continue to review effective writing strategies and work on grammar questions that I made mistakes on to improve my writing and grammar skills.

Grammar is an important part of writing
The Connect assignments also included Power of Process (PoP) which included Skim Reading and Self-Review Assignments. The Skim Reading assignment has equipped me with the skills that I will require for future writing classes where I will have to read through lengthy research papers. The writing strategies in the Self-Review Assignment taught me how to review and revise my writing incrementally. Annotating the various aspects of my Final Genre Analysis Essay enabled me to take a step-by-step approach to improve my essay by annotating the parts that I needed to work on. The assignment was a great tool in writing the GA Essay and learning new critical reading strategies.
